Wetherby sports club gets green light for new padel courts
Grange Park Sports Club in Wetherby has received approval to build two additional outdoor padel courts, expanding its current offering from four to six. The original courts, opened in 2023, have attracted over 4,000 players since the club’s launch.
The Boston Road club applied to Leeds City Council for the expansion, citing a 300% surge in demand. A supporting report revealed that during peak weekday hours, the existing courts were operating beyond full capacity, with waiting lists and demand far exceeding availability. The proposal also outlined significant economic, environmental, and social benefits for the Wetherby community.
The new courts will be equipped with floodlights, enabling extended evening play and further enhancing access for local players.
